IMO, the C/F carriers have small weight-savings, close to the hub (vs. out at the rim, where a few ounces counts a lot more) - and I'd have reservations about their durability at the stressed areas (the button contact areas).

I think theyre composite or graphite. CF is not good for the street since they need to warm up before they work, or so I am told anyway. The ones they have also sit in the carrier a certain way that makes them more durable.
