On the other hand, it's a lot like our local forum that is composed of a bunch of almost lifelong friends. There are almost zero fights and they all know everything about each other. You almost have to be "vouched" for by a long time member to even get noticed.

it all depends on how you start on that forum how they handle you. like I was asked if I was crazy or something when I brought up an oil topic as one of my first threads here. oh and I'm sure some aren't going to forget the jumping bikes thread.
