Default "There are not a lot of people who want to play ninja"

Cops: 'Ninja' dad left 4-year-old son home alone
Pa. man allegedly told patrolman 'he was not doing anything wrong'

SCOTTDALE, Pennsylvania— A man left his
sleeping 4-year-old son home alone while he
went outside and pretended to be a ninja
warrior, police say.

The Daily Courier of Connellsville reported
that Ross Hurst was charged with endangering
the welfare of a child after police found him
dressed all in black and "playing ninja" on a
borough street. Scottdale is about 35 miles
southeast of Pittsburgh.

Police say Hurst, 28, told them his mother was
watching the child, but the boy's grandmother
said Hurst never asked her to babysit.

In an affidavit, Patrolman Joseph Lane said
that he asked Hurst "why he was playing by
himself" at around 1.30 a.m. on March 3.

"He replied that there are not a lot of people
who want to play ninja," the newspaper
quoted Lane's affidavit as saying. "I advised
him that it looked to me that he was doing
something else. Hurst stated that he was not
doing anything wrong and was going home."

Hurst is due in court on March 30, according
to the newspaper.

he was one of those people you would never believe exist unless you met him. when he moved into our apt complex I almost threw his shit in the dumpster.
he moved by carrying all of his crap in garbage bags from where he used to live, and deposited it all in the parking lot of our apt that he was moving into. I walked out to go to work at 5 Am and all I seen was a parking lot full of garbage bags .
just before I started tossing them in the dumpster he came walking up the drive with another load of bags.
he seen me carrying a compound bow in it's case one time. asked if he could see it as he was an archer, i let him see it and he couldn't even come close to pulling it back.
i think he had a 5lb pull on his longbow. LOL

So, how does it get to the point they went to the house and check that the child was alone? I mean, was it just a slow night and the officer had nothing better to do? Did the guy threaten someone in any way with a Katana and the officer worry for the child's safety? Did his mother call while the officer was there questioning our ninja friend? Did the officer have better ninja powers that saw the dark light around this fool? Josh moonlighting in Pennsylvania?

I feel bad for the guy, nobody else will play ninja with him.

Also, I dont have any kids but I have friends who would leave their sleeping 4 y/o to go to the bar for an hour or so. Always seemed to work out fine.

Poor bastard. I bet if he wanted to play GI Joe, he could find some takers.

Can I ask why he was arrested? Adults have the right to dress however they want, and walk public streets at whatever hour they wish to. So unless he was trespassing on someone's property I don't see the problem. The issue of child abandonment is a separate topic, and knowing how unprofessional a lot of cops are, they probably arrested him BEFORE learning that he even had a kid.

Either this is poor reporting missing some details, or it was poor discretion used by the officer.
