Attention Firefox Users!
You'll want to know this. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom (which is oh, so much superior to ours, donchaknow) decided that they would install something into Firefox during a recent update. It's their software installation service, which has been a major pain in the ass from a security standpoint.

Papa_Complex, what about just going into FireFox --> Tools --> Add-ons and clicking on "Disable" for the .NET add-on? Is this a sufficient fix? I don't like editing the registry if I can at all avoid it.

.Net is a communications VM and manager for specific content programmed to use the .Net interface. I generally think of it as Microsoft proprietary content. A lot of software seems to be tying into it.
If you can get to the disable/uninstall in plug-ins, then go for it. The main complaints are that people find they CAN'T do that, and that it's installed without their knowledge.

You may not have the .NET update yet that installs this thing. It's fairly new.
