So apparently what I've been reading up on claims no matter what state the warranty of the vehicle is in they are supposed to replace the lock washer and the Nut. My bike is currently at Southern Honda cause i trust them the most but if Yamaha will fix it for free thats 50 bucks i'm going to save by bringing it to RT Cycle down the road. What do yall suggests. Southern Honda "The Biggest Honda Dealer in The World..." where i know some people or RT Cycle... Both are closed today cause its Sunday and RT is closed Monday so i wont be able to find out till Tuesday if thats true or not.

Any time there is a recall no matter if you're not the original owner or its been years past the recall. It is always free and they need to do it. My vehicle had a recall on the seat belt buckles. It's an '88 and I'm not sure if its been done, if not I can roll into a suzuki dealership and they would have to do it. |

Mine was done at no cost at a Yamaha dealer 6 years after the bike was originally sold. As long as no one added the dot at the end of your VIN like what is shown on the 2nd page of the TSB you posted it should be the same for you. It sucks that it happened to you, but at least there wasn't major damage and it should get taken care of.

Okay good. I'm going to call them Tuesday and schedule them to do it that day. Hopefully Southern Honda doesn't charge me for housing my bike or some bull shit like that.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but. you said that the bike was modified by the previous owner. In my experience, when you change from a 525 sprocket to a 520 sprocket, you have to use a washer that is provided in the kit to keep things tight and as you stated, perhaps the previous owner didn't bend the tab on the washer up after he tightened the nut. Sorry to be a wet blanket but I don't want you to get your hopes up.

My bike still had the stock chain and sprockets so I don't know how that would change anything. After I bought the bike I found the TSB you posted applied to my bike. I had a buddy that was the service manager at a Yamaha dealership so I asked him about it. He said it was still covered, give him a week to get the parts in, bring it by, and they would get it done. It took around an hour. You may want to ask one of your buddies at the Honda dealership if they would honor a similar TSB on a Honda if a 520 kit had been done and work from there.
