Google voice is the shit. It calls my cell phone/work phone/home phone all at once. Only have to give out one number to people. Free text messaging. It is completely integrated into the blackberry, so it is no different than sending a text normally. I don't have to open the app to get messages or go to a webpage. They go straight to my normal inbox on my phone. Best part is voicemail. Voicemail is automatically put to text and emailed to my phone, so I don't even have to call my voicemail box to get the message, I can read it.

What I understood was that AT&T's servers couldn't handle all the traffic that would be caused by letting iPhone users have MMS capability. That makes more sense to than the 'well you can just use email' thing.

SMS/MMS are about as 21st century as fax machines. Don't even get me started on those. For all you 21st century schmucks that cling to your text messaging like Titanic survivors, I have Google Voice. Last edited by jtemple; 09-25-2009 at 01:06 PM.. |

Not everyone uses push email on their phones, text messaging is still easier than push email because most phones have it setup in contacts to just text message and you have to find the work around to push email. So you aren't really gaining anything but annoying the large majority that uses text.

I can at least give out a real telephone number for people to text, instead of an email address. Some of the 21st century texters get confused when I tell them to text me at my email address. Last edited by jtemple; 09-25-2009 at 01:19 PM.. |
