i think his death is the peak, and besides a few decent songs, he'll be exactly like anna nicole smith. When the circus is done, so is his icon status.

yeah but Anna Nicole Smith was always a no tallent piece of shit... she just posed nude for playboy and gained a following of chubby chasers...

Jacko won't fade like that... he won't be an Elvis.... but wont be forgotten for a while (for better or worse)

No way. Anna Nichole Smith was famous for huge juggs and then because of the circus she created, thats all.

If anything, Elvis will fade out with the baby boomers.

I couldn't disagree more. Musically speaking Elvis' music crossed more genres than MJ's ever could. MJ crossed pop and rock in some ways, but Elvis crossed rock, pop, blues, country, americana, folk, lounge, etc. Elvis music has sustained popularity across generations, long after he passed. MJ's music, while being part of the soundtrack of my youth from the Jackson 5 on, faded in popularity even while he was alive.

Also, Elvis' personal issues didn't include being a pedophile or stabbing a close friend in the back, and a friend who is an international super star, at that. Yes, Elvis got fat and was a drugged out mess. MJ continually made himself the butt of jokes and while he put out that he was a recluse of sorts, he also shined the spotlight on himself through his remarkably stupid and harmful choices which he put on display for the world to see.

I agree with everything you say, but wanted to add that Jacko was a drugged out mess too... A recluse, who we will likely find out in 6 weeks that he also died of an overdose (ok, we already know that, but its not proven yet)

Cant see it, if anything, his music will still be played regularly long after were gone. He's up there with the likes of the beatles. Stars that will shine long after their bodies have burned out. Aside from a hanful of songs, MJ has nothing worth remembering. Thriller, Beat it, bad, billie jean, and maybe black and white? Ask anyone their favourite Jacko songs, and thats what youll get. And then only if they grew up in the 80's like most of us did. He was an Era artist, and nothing more. While those songs were some of the best of the time, and still fantastic today, they wont give him the type of stardom others have. Expecially with his shady past.

MJ will never be forgotten.

There is a chance that Elvis will lose a bit with the baby boomers just like MJ will when we all kick the bucket. But there are many many singers, actors/actresses and athletes that are still talked about today long after they have passed.

Jack Johnson (March 31, 1878 – June 10, 1946) A boxer that is still talked about 63 years after he has passed.

Sammy Davis, Jr. (December 8, 1925 – May 16, 1990)

Red Skelton (July 18, 1913 – September 17, 1997)

Lucille Ball (August 6, 1911 – April 26, 1989)

Cary Grant (January 18, 1904 – November 29, 1986)

Charlie Chaplin (16 April 1889 – 25 December 1977)

Sam Langford (March 4, 1883 - January 12, 1956) Nova Scotian boxer that I'm told is related to my step father.
