Default Bike Raffling

So, has anybody ever heard of a person raffling a bike off??? Seriously. Someone was talking about it on another forum of mine. What venue could you go through? Say if my buddy was selling his R6, you could do 100 $40 tickets, or 40 $100 tickets. Shit, I'd put in $40 for a chance for a bike. Maybe even a couple tickets.....

People have done it to sell their houses before. There are laws and applicable taxes you have to follow and is illegal in certain states. Remember this is a form of gambling if it isn't going to charity.

I remember seeing these years ago. Might have been on SBN. But there was a site where you could do that. You set your price and how many tickets. I don't know if it sold. I think it would be cool to do this if you could work with the laws. Or find a way around the law. What if someone had a website that had a members section and that member section had a membership fee. What if the fee was $10 and if there is 500 members then a free gift (bike, car or so on that someone is selling) is giving to one member. I wonder if that would work without the government putting a shoe up someones ass?

I have been searching the internet. Most of you guys are along the right path. I think there are laws in place unless you go through a liscensed business, or you are a charity.

Like I dont think I could just put it up on the internet that the Grandview PD is holding the bike for the raffle, and that a notary is in charge of the transaction. His dad is a deputy sherrif there, and the department has 3 people that are notaries. It would seem like an awesome idea though....

I've seen it done when guys have tried and tried to sell their bikes. Illegal in this state, but so are the ones for "charity"

Some states allow it for the charity causes, but you have to have special permits and licenses to do so.
