Angry What's worse than the cops shooting your dog?

What's worse than a military-style home invasion killing the family pet in front of the 7-year-old?

When they shoot and kill the 7-year-old.

In America.

War on drugs. War on who?

The 34 year old suspect in a brutal slaying of a 17 year old was the story I read. Funny how the story tilts depending where you read it.

Horrible about the little girl. And, I hope things change. But....

Let's be clear; they were looking for a murder suspect, and not some weed this time.

When did it become fashionable to stage military style home invasions like this, though?

What would you say brought that on?

...And there you go.

I don't recall the police having SWAT teams, and staging military-style no-knock home invasions before the "drug war".

The fact is that federal funds are made available for these tactical squads from the money budgeted for this "drug war".

You can pretend it's not important, not relevant, or not worth your concern...but I think the raid where they shot the dog has already proven that this isn't just an inner city problem that affects those "other people" anymore.

I sincerely hope that no military style tactical squad ever invades your house, and shoots you, or your kids, or your animals...just as I hope they don't attack me or mine...but I'm certainly no longer so sure that this kind of thing only happened once-upon-a-time in Nazi Germany...it happens here, now, and it could be you or me - and if you wanna pretend everything's ok, I can't help ya.

Me? Not so sure.

I think this whole war on drugs thing has now been used to totally rob Americans of their right to feel secure in their own homes, and it has "changed the game" in a very dangerous manner. This is not how warrants used to be served, and it was the war on drugs that was the vehicle used to change it.

Our founding fathers would be fucking horrified. I know I am.

"Her father, 25-year-old Charles Jones, told The Detroit News he had just gone to bed early Sunday after covering his daughter with her favorite Disney princess blanket when he heard a flash grenade followed by a gunshot. When he rushed into the living room, he said, police forced him to lie on the ground, with his face in his daughter's blood."

Just because you don't recall it doesn't mean SWAT teams weren't common well before the 80's and the war on drugs. Police SWAT teams in the US have been around since the 60's, and probably got focused on hostage recovery and antiterrorism tactics well before busting down the doors of drug dealers.

This is a terrible situation, but why does someone always have to be to blame?
