Don't these places have sales like this to get their really old tires out? Any issues with getting tires that old?

not to my knowledge and my experience has always been good dealing with tire manufacturers even if there is a problem. Heck, I bought 3 sets of BT0002s when they were on sale for $200 shipped last year and I just put the last front on a few weeks ago. I personally believe that a tire will keep for several years if stored out of the weather of course.

There was something on a 60 minutes type show where this was an issue with car tires that lead to catastrophic outcomes. Always wondered if it was the same with bike tires, but like you said I havent had any issues, and the tires I am not currently using are in garbage bags in the back room here since the garage is rather chilly.

I have heard of that happening but the sets I ordered last year for track use were just over a year old and the new ones I ordered are about the same I believe.

With the michelins the pure became the latest greatest tire to have so maybe it forced them to drop the cost of the powers, which is fine with me since I am very happy with the tire for street and track use and it saves me a few bucks

I highly suggest if your going to be buying a new set of tires get the Pilot Pure. Its a step up from the Power's. It has a larger % of flat surface for better grip on the road as well as more sticky compound on the edges. These are also 2CT tires and ive loved them dearly.

Here is a comparison of the two. Its quite clear that the Pure has a much higher sticky% than the Power's
