Our roads are worn out....our bridges are rotting and falling down....we're laying off school teachers by the hundreds thereby depriving ourselves of any shot at an educated workforce in the future.....people are robbing banks to get access to at least SOME form of health care.....

And yet....we've all the money in the world (as long as China continues to be willing to loan it to us) to occupy Afghanistan....Iraq. Play policeman to the world. The costs of maintaining our Empire (and does anyone here TRULY believe we live in a Republic, rather than an Empire?) have outstripped our means....a complete collapse is only a matter of time....Ask the English....or the Ottomans....or the Romans before them.

We take more and more and more from "home"....to spend on bombs and bribes and bullets abroad....and the American people largely say nothing. Distracted...divided...and largely too ignorant to understand the ramifications of what has happened even IF they did pay attention long enough to notice.

It would be a farce...if it wasn't so damn true....and scary.
