Default And i thought your insurance rates go DOWN when you turn 25?

Im in florida so i never carried insurance on the bike (not a requirement in this state). I figured that now im 25 and a half i should look around in case it gets wrecked or stolen. And im shocked because i have had NO INCIDENTS in the last 8 years and ALL tickets have been dismissed + im a safe driver. If you look at the policies its the COLLISION part thats the most expensive.

I'm new to the whole insurance thing..... but i do believe you do have to have some insurance "history". They have to base what kind of rider you are. Thats why there are questions like "have you had motorcycle insurance in the past year" and "Have you had motorcycle insurance with another company in the last 6 months." They have no "history" of you so you are rated along with the "delinquent" under 25 category as high risk. Until you prove that you are a rider that is experienced.... and wont wad your bike.

The fact that i have had a motorcycle endorsement for 3 years and i have carried insurance on my cars for the past 8 years (without any claims) doesnt mean anything?

So anytime you buy motorcycle insurance for the first time (regardless of age or driving history) the premium will be sky high for the 1st year? And they drop after that?

In 03 I was looking at over $2500 for full coverage insurance in my brand new R6. I think in the end it was $2000 or so after looking around. It dropped a bit every year. I was 28.

Yes, unfortunately, that's the game

The cool thing is, if you keep your record clean, it drops quite a bit as the years go by
