Selling a bike..
I'm not really interested in selling my bike. But, I have it on the local classifieds for 8000. I figure if I get somewhere near that, I'll let it go and get a more touring oriented bike. Until then however, I don't really care if I sell it.
I love getting emails like, "I'll give you 5000. They were going for 7000 not long ago." Well thanks for the heads up chief. Little do they know my dealer will give me 6700 on trade in and that's without haggling at all. Could likely get them closer to 7000 if they wanted to move a bike. Am I wrong to think I'm part of a seller's market with this thing? Either way, I'm not selling it unless I get a good deal. But, I'm just curious what you guys think is going to happen to the value? |

With 1125s going for $5K in the states, the Firebolt will not have a great resale.
With the tax break, you will be better off trading it in if they will give you $6700.

They'll be back to a more normal resale value in a little while. Don't worry about it.

If you could get a true $6700 for it, take it. I can guarantee you that whatever dealer offered you that much won't cut you a check for $6700. They are making up the difference with the profit margin of their bike. I'd guess the dealer would put the TMV (true market value) of your bike at around $4k.

Right now, you aren't going to get a ton out of it. I think if you give it a year, you should be good to go though.

But that's what I'm saying, I don't even want to sell it. That's why I put the price high. I want to see what kind of offers I'd get, and if the right deal does come along, then I would pounce on it.
As for trade, I was going to trade it in on a dirtbike. I had bike fever because my buddy bought an 09 Yamaha 450. He offered me this for my bike plus 700 bucks. Leftover 09 for basically $7400. That's $2000 under msrp. Don't get me wrong. I know this thing will not appreciate in value. And I know it'll likely take somebody who really wants what I'm offering to pay near what I'm asking. I'm just hoping it happens before I'm eager to sell... |

I'd sell mine for 10 large. Then go buy another one.
