Barber Museum and the gap
HERE is a link to our route. Winston-Salem, NC to Birmingham Ala, to Tellico Plains, Robbinsville, then home. 1,025 miles in 44 hrs
We left Winston Salem, NC friday in 64 degree weather at 5pm We rode about 240 miles till about 8pm then crashed near Athens Ga R1150RT FJR1300 GSXR600 FXLRTSBEYSGDJF......Ultra Glide HD Got up and rode another 200 sat morning in upper 50's till we hit Barber Motorsports park and Museum Got there about 11 and there was only one other bike there HERE is a link to the pic since it's wide and I personally hate to scroll in posts The museum is STUPID cool I have about 314 pics of just the bikes....and I won't bore you with those....but here's a few very cool ones And there was a track day going on while we were there too We left a little after noon and headed north to catch the Skyway before dark My buddy Jason and I tore off for a spirited ride across the summit It was GREAT!!! we had the whole skyway to ourselves and the weather couldn't have been better!!! Got up sunday morning and headed up to the gap...it was a cool 49 but felt great. But it was closed right at the NC line...so we headed down 28 and rocked a few of the local roads We headed back up 74 to 40 and came on back. About 11:30 it started raining....but we made it home fine by 2:00 Great weekend! great trip!!!

I loved Barber when I went last year (Trip thanks for that tip). I'll probably be going again this year since I have to go to Birmingham for business again this year. I'd love to see a track day. Last time, it was a race school teaching car drivers in Porche 911's.
Cool pics!

Awesome pics Troy!
I've been to Barber 3 times, but always for trackdays & failed to tour the museum before. It's on the 'must to' list for a road-trip this year - especially now. |

Kerry, you definitely have to go to the museum. Even the elevator is cool
Troy, did you see this one? The guy who rode this one around the world (Jim Rogers) wrote a book about it called Investment Biker http://www.amazon.com/Investment-Bik.../dp/1558505296 It was a pretty good read.

Yeah I saw that one..it was pretty neat! It was ROUGH man
Also saw the super-tour Duc Thats an aux tank on the back piped to the main tank Got lots of pics of that one. From what the chic up front said, there's a boatload more bikes that they keep in the basement storage and they rotate out the displays every once and a while, so there's no telling what you may miss if you go another time
