Default Quick bike inspection question

When ya'll take your "newish" bikes in that have only one low beam running during the day, do they check to make sure the other one comes on?

My '01 vfr runs both low beams but one has been out and I'm lazy right now and don't wont to take a crap load of parts off my bike just for the bulb.

You're only required to have one headlight in all states. If they ask, just tell them it's normal. Maybe they're stupid... If not, I believe that you can fix it and come back for N.C.

Most Shops around me wouldn't know the difference.

Over the past yrs I have had

"Your exhaust is illegal!".. Why? Cause it looks loud.

"Your tires are bald!" No, actually they are brand new just don't have that funny tread like car tires.

"Your brakes are almost gone". Really? I just got done putting the calipers on after putting new pads and getting new tires put on. But that was 5 miles ago, they might be getting close.

Then you get the whole "the inspection sticker must be in plain sight, wanna put it on the windscreen?"

I still love the "I hear an exhaust leak on your truck". Then watch him take a rag and cover the exhaust tip again. Yep, sounds like a 3" hole coming from the other sides exhaust tip. That damn dual exhaust.

I've gotten that and more. Un freakin' real.

I'd just replace the headlight - take what, 10 minutes (including time spent walking to the fridge to get a beer)?

My last inspection consisted of 15 minutes talking bikes and 0 minutes of actually checking my bike.

Most are just amazed that
A. It's a 93'
B. It's still on the road

The guy I used to take it too would check brakes and tires (anything that could result in a sale for him) but that shop closed down over the summer.

I think they are more amazed it still has the #3 crank and rod bearings still intact.

No, you are not required to have a working high beam to be legal in the State of Texas. As long as your lights work - then you're legal.

What is this inspection you speak of? Funny how everyone criticizes CA for being a commie state, but we don't have any bike inspections.

By the way, your owners manual should clearly indicate how to change the bulb.....It's not hard at all. In fact I've never seen a bike where the bulb access point wasn't right in front of your face.
