Default Test Rode a New Honda 1000rr

I test rode one our mountain regulars 2011 Repsol 1000rr. Here are my impressions:

Bike felt fairly light for a 1000, but def. not as light feeling as my ZX6R. Chassis was pretty stable, but the suspension was soft, so it could have been adjusted to suit my 225lb with gear weight. I didn't push it too hard since he only had BT015s on it. Suspension is prolly on par with my previous 07 600rr. It's good.

Bike ergos fit me pretty well. I would say on par with my ZX6r if not a tad better.

The dude put a pipe and remap on it which made it feel a tad abrupt on/off throttle, but the power wasn't as good as I expected for supposely to be the king of low/ mid range. It wasn't bad though.

Engine wasn't all that smooth. I seriously think that fucking with Honda fueling with a remap always makes it worse.

Transmisson shifted smooth as typical Honda.

Would I buy one of these? No...my ZX6r has a much smoother engine and much better fuel delivery, is lighter with better brakes. I would look at the new ZX10r or wait for the 2012 1000rr.

Problem with Honda is that they always seem to put the bars higher than the other 3.

Kawasaki seems to have very smooth throttles.......but I hope they've improved their valvetrain noise.

My 2009 ZX6r has 0 engine noise and a very smooth throttle. I get compliments all the time on it.

Honda puts the bars and pegs too close to each other, opposite of a Gixxer. This bike was pretty good though.

I gotta agree with this statement, messing with the fuel delivery on the newer cbr1k is rough and almost never makes the bike better

Was it a full system or slipon?
If it was a slipon then he's probably still got that dumb motorized flap in the header pipe

HEY!!!
I still have that dumb "motorized" flap.

I may have the only stock 2008 1KK in the North East.
I even have the stock license plate holder.

I'm pretty sure it was a slipon, but then again this dude paid like 16,300 OTD for this thing and 11,300 for a 2007 Gixxer 600. When I told him I paid 7899 OTD for my ZX6r...he was like "was that used"? No homie..it was brand fucking new!
