Default A Volkswagen better than a MC?

It may work for people that don't know but it's a poor example.

Volkswagen Trying To Convince You Than A Jetta Is Better Than A Motorcycle!

Published by Cyril Huze

I find this 75-second campaign for Volkswagen South Africa to sell Jettas somewhat dumb. Advertising USP (or Unique Selling Proposition) made by the German manufacturer? If you want to taste freedom and to look super cool, a Jetta is much better than your motorcycle. Why, they argue? Of course because you will not have to suffer from the heat, cold, rain, will not eat bugs, will not get dirty, etc.

First, I didn’t know that people were tortured at the idea of choosing between a motorcycle and a new VW Jetta. Second, the creative team behind this campaign is made of guys/gals with absolutely no idea that riding a motorcycle is much more than wind, rain and bugs. They are not bikers, can’t understand, reason why they produced such a commercial. Your opinion?

Buy an iphone and an ed hardy shirt if you're image chasing.
Saying shit like "tasting freedom" reminds me of idiots who take movies and taglines too seriously.

"Want to taste freedom"
Ask you mom if you can extend your curfew or ask your wife if you are allowed to go out on Saturday.

Want to relax or have fun?
Try motorcyling....or drive a Jetta...whatever suits you.

Didn't get the same take from the commercial.. One of the ppl who commented said it right

Quote:
Hmmmmm I thought it was an ok commercial, don’t see anything wrong with it.Seemed to be making fun of the people trying to be something they’re not. There are definitely people who are not cut out to be riders.Once they’re happily crusing down the road in their Jetta life is good and the bikers are smiling at them knowningly because they see those folks are exactly where they belong
Edit - Even though I own a VW I went in waiting to get pissed off at them for suggesting something like that.

I wouldn't mind a VW... Saw an 81 Rabbit diesel in the paper the other day, I still need to call on that one.

In theory they are interesting and notable cars.
In practice, 35hp at the wheels out of a 3 decade old engine attached to a car that has seen much better days is best experienced on a private road course.
Last time I was in one it felt like I was in 1960's East Germany.

Smart car is for cities where parking is scarce. A niche tool applicable to only a handful of urban areas. Sucky car, sucky performance all around...fits into tight spaces.

As for the Rabbit diesel...I wouldn't seek one out to purchase but I'd rock it as a station car. Only problem is that its only 3 miles to train station. Fucker would never warm up. Guess I would just leave it running.
Let that fucker idle in the lot all day while I'm at work.

And still nobody would steal it. Best automobile anti theft device in the world?
