Blower Drive belts. Timing is all gear driven.

Those old 2 Stroke Detroits are great. Turns fuel directly into noise. Just the thought of setting those racks hurts my Brain.

That would be my guess as well. Screw diesel though. I like a nice Pratt and Whitney Wasp Major radial engine instead.

I think they've been shoehorned into Semis but I dont think they originally came in them. I'd say it's more of a Marine engine. Either way, there has not been a 2 Stroke Diesel in an On-Highway truck in decades.
