Smartphone data plan users, question about usage
With Verizon killing unlimited data plans and the wife's brand spanking new iPhone....

I dunno how much we actually use with our Iphones, but last time we got new phones they tried to talk us out of our unlimited plan into the reduced and tiered plan as based on our usage we dont use nearly what the upper limit was. We still told them no tho, rather keep our grandfathered plan.

I used a bit over 500MB last month on my work phone. Our corporate plan doesn't cover tethering, so that cuts things down a bit.

You're not going to exceed 5 gig unless you regularly stream or dl a lot of video. Beware that streaming with 4G uses more than 3G because the content provider optimizes the stream for your speeds.

1 to 2 gig a month on my droidX
My droid is normally faster than my wireless on the laptop, so if I don't need to open the laptop I won't. I do some work on my droid from time to time, watch movie trailers and crap like that but basically use it for general info as its right there and only takes a second. |

It varies for me. Some months I will destroy the 5 gig limit and some months I wont even make a gig. I like my unlimited, they aren't taking it from me. I hot spot off my phone a lot. I do that without paying for it. LOLz

I have no idea how much most people use, but if I break 250MB, it's a fucking miracle.
ONSSP uses even less... she's usually coming in about 50-75% of what I do... Both are 3G |

Loading up forums full of flash and fucking ads adds up quick. I have to turn off pics when I visit one forum that takes ridicously long to load. Hell, even on my cable connection it lags. I love how it loads the ads first. LoL

The good news is that if you already have an "unlimited" plan on Verizon you wont lose it even if you upgrade your phone. So far this passed month I was at about 600MB. I use it a lot but this is on the original Droid and 3G, not much tethering. If I had a faster phone with LTE service Im sure Id blow right through the 2G tier if I wasnt careful.
