Exactly, there's nothing wrong with a lil' physical violence. Teach a lesson, release some anger and send the boy on his way holding his bloody nose or whatever. Its good for both parties actually.

It isn't particularly good for both parties if the kid files assault charges against the father.

Don't get me wrong...I could have very much been the "boy" in this situation when I was younger and gotten hit by the father...that is part of the game as you said.
