Very "striking" snake, lookswise. He wasnt agressive, he was crossing our path as we crossed his. He stopped, but never coiled, just sat very still. We knew he was venomous, just not sure what he was till we looked him up. Little guy, probably about 6-7 inches, no rattler yet.

You have a point.

Told my friend about them this morning, said she's never coming to visit again. I'll have to remember that one for when I dont want company!

Probly, which is why I only got close enough to see him well, I have no desire to get nipped by an adult, let alone a baby! *shudder*

From what I've heard, the babies are just as potent as the adults. Used to find the baby copperheads in my swimming pool. Gave them as much room as they wanted.

I've actually been told babies are significantly worse as adults will stop injecting venom and use only whats needed whereas babies blow their whole load so to speak...

Funny you mention the copperheads, my hubby told me last night the copperheads he's familiar with behave just like cottonmouths, including being in the water whereas the copperheads I grew up with in Texas were never in or near the water. *sigh* Do I have to tell him he's right?
