I live in the most heavily Wal-Mart saturated area in the world. There are 12 Wal-Marts within a 10 mile radius of my house. That doesn't include Sam's Club (4) or Neighborhood Markets (4).

The result of that seems to be that every other business around here is a chain. All stores, all restaurants, etc. etc...all huge corporate owned chains. Pretty bland and boring. The only thing that makes this area (Texas) fun to live in is all the guns.

It's called, "don't work there"... Nobody is forcing people to go take a job at WalMart.

It's unskilled labor... don't like it, go work at McDonald's. I fail to see the difference.

So what is your solution to competing in a global economy?

I think Walmart has some good deals on guns and ammo right now!!!

Because I live in a yuppie part of Atlanta, there is only 1 Walmart near me. I stopped in to buy some bullets and noticed there were no guns or bullets. I asked some sales girl if they sold bullets and she goes "Real Bullets?". Turns out they don't sell guns or ammo except for BB gun shit. I've been curious if they didn't sell them there because the city stopped them or if Walmart just didn't see a demand for them.

You can definitely buy ammo at the Walmarts around here...

Those bastards at WalMart paying people at least the federally mandated minimum wage. When will they stop abiding by the law!

It isn't WalMart's fault that nobody is willing to give the clueless moron with the hygene of AMJ's wife's goat often found working a register a corner office and six figures.

You know what keeps people from having to work for minimum wage at WalMart? Enough skills and education to get hired elsewhere.

yeah they are the closest thing to my house for shopping, by quite a few miles. I do a lot of the shopping there. I don't mind saving a little money there either.
they did put one local grocery store out of business in our town. Broke my heart to see that little price gouging bastard go out of business. seems when you know you're the only place to shop in a small town it just feels good to stick it to the locals on price. Yeah he tried dropping his prices down to reality after Walmart opened but too late. no one went there anymore.

Agreed.

Plus I really doubt any Wal-Mart is paying minimum wage anyway. Dairy Queen maybe, but not Wal-Mart.

I love walmart! Between walmart and sam's club I can buy mostly everything.

The only walmarts I have ever been to are here in Vegas. I live in a new neighborhood so all the surrounding walmarts are really nice and new. Not a lot of people either since we aren't really a densely populated city.

The people aren't any uglier than usual either.

It beats schlepping expensive groceries and going to 5 different places to get everything I need by foot in NYC.
