Generally, the people who go for these types of jobs, think it gives them power that theyve always craved, and never had. They do in many jurisdictions but are more geared to shielding a good Samaritan from being sued by the person he's aided, rather than against those who he might be shielding someone from.

Those laws apply to life saving measures medically. Like CPR for instance. But again, I get how litigous our society is. Ive been sued TWICE. But intervening in an assualt is VERY unlikely to get you sued. Even if you mistakenly touch a bewbie. UNLESS you do something stupid like continue to hit a person when they have become indefensible or using a gun when you shouldn't have. People are taking this wayyyyy to far into the what if zone. Specific to THIS video. Stopping that assualt would have been entirely too easy. And yes, as stated somewhere else the other witnesses are on the hook for this too. Not just Paul Blart and his co-workers.

You could always pull it off 'accidental'... just run headlong into them, mow the assailant down, and claim you didn't see them.

Believe what you want, people get charged and convicted for this shit when breaking up fights, and cops have had to defend themselves against it on a regular basis. Thats the society we live in.
