Well when I first read this thread I wasn't really sure. But this morning I was definitely having a bad feeling about things. I woke up with a stiff neck and a mild hangover, but no big deal. On the way to the meet-up point i managed to kill the bike (I haven't killed a bike in probably at least a year and half). Right as we left i killed the bike again (this time the kickstand was down) which meant we lost the group. but no big deal we caught up later.
Up till then it was fine. We had a new rider on a BRAND new 08 ninja 250, blue, bought 3 weeks ago. He hit some gravel in a very slow speed 90 degree turn onto another street and went down. He was alright for the most part, just a little banged up, shocked and embarrassed. thankfully a guy driving by in a pickup happened to be a 1st responder so he patched him up. His bike was very rashed up on the left side, turn signal broke off. I gotta say tho the old 250 took drops and falls MUCH cleaner than the new one does. either way after a little cranking on his bike he was back on the road. Anyways long story short I'm taking it way easy next time i don't have a good feeling...

I don't believe in karma but in a ignorant way I like to believe that things will happen to those that deserve it. The reality however is that this isn't always true. Terrible things often happen to great people, and great things often happen to bad people. Beyond that thought, I try to be nice to everyone and help everyone out. I do so even if I don't like something about them. However, I have learned that this sort of attitude has backfired on me hundreds of times. At this point, if there is something I can't trust about someone, I probably should listen to my gut. It hasn't been wrong but a handful of times. As for riding in general, I like to do everything in a proper manner. It helps me think that everything will be fine because of how careful I was. In many ways that may be true, but the reality is that any asshat in a car can change my life by not paying attention at an intersection. Life happens often without reason, but it helps to place a reason on each event. Often things do work out in funny ways which make us glad that such and such events worked out for us. |
