FWIW - I never received any notification of the VS takeover. I come back from vacation and the changes are all there. No PM's, nothing.

Rez was likely told that he had to keep it quiet, until after the purchase was complete. It has become SOP for VS these days, because the sort of mass exodus of prolific posters isn't unique to CF, post acquisition. VS can't have people deleting all their old material, which looks good to potential advertisers, killing their revenue stream.
