A 7.0 IN an urban center, such as they just experienced is THE worst-case scenario as far as earthquakes go. The Northridge quake was north of town here in a suburb and was smaller at a 6.7. I don't care what you think about Haiti, ANY CITY on the planet would have had extensive damage and loss of life if this struck them. California has extensive earthquake preparedness and still experienced building and freeway collapses.

It's amazing how much shit people talk about natural disasters in other parts of the world, yet when the exact same thing happens to them they just brush it off. Have a fucking heart, people are dying by the thousands.

Exactly. Ive been through a bunch of hurricanes in Virgina and South Florida. When the power goes out things get bad, when theres no gas things get worse. If it lasts more than a week things start to look alot like Haiti.

Give them food, give them water, medical attention, but let them save themselves.

How do we contribute to the world other than using up natural resources and fucking up other countries? You can agrue it both ways.

I got word this morning that I was reporting to my gaining unit early and heading down for some good ol' humanitarian aid. After I told my family and friends, I get word 3 hours later that I was no longer going..

I was really looking forward to heading down.

Great vid Kell.

We have two ships on their way. And the one I was going on is still going, they just found volunteers who were less hassle to take. I still have a week of schooling left, they were going to graduate me on friday, have me write my final test on monday and report to the boat that afternoon..
