That's awesome and I'm sure with training you'll do fine.
I suggest getting some sort of training aid such as a garmin or a Nike Plus to log miles and runs. Hal Higdon has great plans, plus he reminds me of Mandelbauhm on Seinfeld and that cracks me up. I'm running a half in October too. Haven't signed up yet since I'm thinking I might try and do one in North Carolina when I head to the Gap again this year. |

Lol I wouldnt be completely opposed to it but Im honestly so far from half marathon shape its ridiculous. I can do a little more than a 5k right now at a jog pace and thats probably about it. I couldnt even race a 5k right now. If I could ever stay motivated to run Id probably get back into like I have lifting. And yes a half is 13.1 miles, not 13.6, a full marathon is 26.2. I agree completely about racing shorter distances before jumping right into a half. Trying to race that long of a distance would not be fun when you are trying to keep up with other peoples pace and then realize how far you've still got left. |

I changed my plans due to a nagging injury AND vacation time/plans.
I had always planned to run a marathon when I'm 36. But this year Chicago is on 10/10/10 which I thought was really cool so wanted to do that. But other stuff just got in the way so now I'm back to the original plan of 2012. I'm running a half this year, 2 next year, then 2012 is the full mary. Anyone want to run the Bethel Half Marathon in Canton, NC on October 9th? |
