Man I just don't want to deal with any of it... I have no motivation... FUCK

It's cold, I hate the cold, I just want to relax, the timers, the cords, the checking things, steaking down the blow ups that end up covered in snow and I have to unplug on super windy days and BS BS BS

LED strings are just as fragile as incans. Lightkeeper pro is the best testing device. They run about $20 unless you get them on sale. It looks like a old space TV show gun. They don't work on LEDs though, nothing works on them. If they die, you are fucked.

interesting.. but don't LEDs just last longer and consume less energy or am I wrong? assuming you don't step on the LEDs and handle them properly they should last longer or no?

LEDs don't really last a whole lot longer. The colored ones remain colored and don't fade in sun, but you won't get a ton more seasons out of them than incans. The pro grade LEDs that you can get from commercial sellers last pretty well, but the cheap ass chinese Wally world/home depot/target lights will last maybe a season or two longer. The issue is it's cheap leds and one will break and you are just as screwed as you would be if it was incans. Plus the wire/insulation and most of the material besides the light itself is the same as the incans, so it's prone to the same issues.

They will save you a ton in energy if you have a very large display like me. If it is a small static display, you won't really save a ton.

Here's my tree this year, we got a monorail. I have since dissembled the engine and putting in a more powerful motor. The one that came with it sucks. If you look on the flickr, you will see some photos from me messing around with the motor.
