This experiment seems to be more for the sake of pure science. It's easy to say "let's work on stuff that benefits us now", but many of our greatest practical discoveries have come as the often unexpected result of seemingly unrelated research.

The whole idea of creating a big bang kinda got me thinking about the 'Genesis' Weapon in Star Trek number whatever. If a world starter missile could be created by a big bang then our expansion to the far reaches of the galaxy would be a fo sho..
Before you call me out on being a geek, The old 1960 series was way ahead of its time for technical realism. Some of the things they proposed as fantasy exist in some ways today...

All we have now are hybrids, recycled container homes, and laser pointers to drive our cats insane.

I really just wonder WHAT this scientific experiment's learnings can be used for. I'm SURE theres some military research going into what was learned from the event for weapons or whatever, but theres got to be some peaceful stuff too.

Well we do have some nifty gadgets. I phone apps do alot more than what a Startrek Tricorder could.
BUT I still dont have a flying car or bike despite my many low altitude attempts. We apparently resort back to the stone age if we're trying to mend a collar bone. And I have no way to play any of my old 8 tracks. we do have GPS, Traction Control, Tom Tom, Mobile porn, So not so bad...
