that's probably why we have more and more new riders going to MSF then hitting the roads alone and then hitting literally the roads, cars or anything else they can find while alone to. it never hurts to ride with someone for a bit in fact I think even most MSF instructors tell their students that.

but it was just a suggestion for him..........just a thought

Yea settle down Susan B Anthony! Yeesh... That's exactly what I am trying to do. If she needs my help or needs advice, I am there. If not, I am out of the way. If you look at the "action shots" I took, I stay way back from her and give her plenty of room to do whatever she wants/needs to do. If I feel she is making a mistake of some kind then I can swoop up and correct it.

Case in point, the MSF instructor taught her to ride in the center of the lane (where all the oil and shit is!). I do not agree and have retrained her to ride on the left or right portion of the lane. The way I explain it is for her to stay in whatever portion of the lane that is farthest from potential danger from traffic. Usually the left, which gives you a slight buffer from idiots jumping in from side streets.

That's another thing about modern MSF, and I'll take on all comers on this one!!! They no longer take them on the road at all... How much can you really learn about street riding in a parking lot? Technically, this course is for people who have never even touched a bike before. They take them out, sit them in a class and ride them around a parking lot on 250s and bang they have a license and can go out and buy a 'Busa! I don't know but it seems sketchy to me. I guess it's better than nothing but I think that if there wasn't this course most people would get help from family and/or friends... I'm not sure which is worse to tell you the truth... at least when new riders got permits, they had to have someone with experience with them to ride.
