I heard he hated his side profile and was often teased as a kid. He was also the first African American to get a video on MTV and was maybe trying to blend in better. Only he knows for sure.

Here are some pics I have never seen of Michael with Vitiligo (skin pigment disorder). I can definitely see if he was getting blotchy, trying to even out his skin tone.
