Beer snobs are like audio snobs.

They'll pretend to notice something bad about a lesser product to justify paying top dollar.

There's nothing wrong with it, but don't bs everyone when you likely couldn't tell the difference between most beers in a blind taste test.

I def can, but am also a former and hopefully again cutrrent homebrewer so I learned to detect some subtle differences

Yes, they do. But, if I put two similar beers in front of you, you'll likely not be able to tell the difference.

An ale and a stout? Sure. Two ales and two stouts? Good luck....

A stout is an ale

Alot of beers even within a certain style can vary quite a bit depending on how its made.

the other problem is consistency in the batches to continue making the same product. Not an easy thing for your backyard brewer (unless you plunk down several thousand dollars in equipment) to acomplish.

Budwiser, I cannot stand the beer and think its terrbile, but they are very consistent to keep generating the same product on a huge scale and even between their different breweries.

And while you'll be able to say, yeah this tastes different. I doubt the majority of the beer snobs could name the beer they were drinking in a blind test.

If you are familiar enough with the beers you can. You can taste the different types of hops used in each beer. I can tell a huge difference between Sam Adams an ANY other lager. IPA's are very distinctive as well.

Can you tell the difference between a little Caesars pizza and a pizza hut pizza? Or a Cohiba cigar form an Arturo Feunte? I bet you can.
