7% If youre a jew you would laugh.

I stopped rounding up when I switched my account so that the rest of the dollar goes to a savings account. So If I pay 42.18 and I want to give an $8 tip my card is charged $50.18 and an extra $.82 goes into my savings. It doesnt sound like much, but it adds up. Last year it put almost $700 in my savings and it happens in such small amounts that I never realize it.

The unsaid rule when the group of friends go out.
Establish that the bill will be split evenly.
Have established bill "worker-outter" do the numbers.
Guess who is not the "worker-outter" and who will be kept as far away from the check as possible?

Otherwise...its one person yapping about the bill...."Well I only had this...and we should get seperate checks....blah blah blah" and a table full of people muttering under their breath...

When I pay with a debit card I always tip in whole dollar amounts. I figure it is easier for the staff if they are not getting random cents from everyone.

What the hell, we need an Asian tipping thread, too.
They only tip you after running over you with their cars...

Most machines here just ask you the tip amount so I just put in an amount. Screw trying to make it a whole dollar.

I always leave a tip that is $x.00. My other bills (mortgage, utilities, etc.) don't end in $x.00 so I don't think having restaurant charges end that way would greatly simplify account balancing. Even less so since it's all done with a program.

CC (most of the time), nah, I tip in full dollars; not worried about the total being an even dollar amount. I used to, but for some reason, I got away from it.
Same with me. Probably because I'm too lazy to do the simple math when I'm out for a meal.
