Sounds like you can only highside at the track when applying too much throttle when exiting a corner..

I've seen some big highsides on the track. I've never seen one on the street. I know a couple of friends who've highsided at the Gap but I wasn't there to witness. I myself have never highsided.

My situation that I described in my post probably wasn't really a highside by definition. I started not to post about it but it's the closest I've come...I flew up and over the front/side of the bike but again...it probably wasn't really a highside.

I hope I don't get the chance to do a textbook one and post about it.

Now that I think about it I also flew up and over the front of my bike when I slammed into that car that pulled in front of me and that wasn't really a highside either.

Yea hitting shit and flying through the air can be done on a skateboard. A high side is exactly what Kelli described. The rear wheel loses traction, suddenly regains it (usually from chopping the throttle), the shock loads up and BOING off you go!!! Hitting something and flying off would be a catapult situation imho.

Right and I didn't post that it was...actually I said it wasn't.

The first incident that I posted about earlier...I didn't hit anything....locked the brakes up...slid...hit the gas...slightly turned...and went sailing. That what I posted as a potential highside and even that I guess wasn't really a highside.

I wanted to see what similarities there might have been if any.
