I had bought a domain by 1998 because the internet providers kept getting bought and I was tired of my email changing

Started with Mindspring and ran thru about 4 providers (never A O hell) till TW cable came thru

What's the typical rule about email with these companies? Do you instantly lose your email addy after you cancel your service? Or will they auto-forward your email to another address for a certain period of time?

I dont think there is a rule



Anyone remember the days when you can enter a search term into (in pre google days) a search engine and come back with no results?

Friends in the education world hooked me up with Toronto Free Net in 1991. It was a text-only portal to the Internet, run by the universities in Toronto, and accessible via modem. There was no graphic interface, so web pages were only usable in hypertext, but the web wasn't big then anyway. For motorcycle information you went to newsgroups, like rec.motorcycles.
