I've hit birds... unless that bird was a turkey vulture it wasn't worth even swerving for. For that matter, I've hit a turkey vulture... went under it and broke its legs with my helmet.

Bike was wrecked at the Gap early in the season IIRC... and the turkey vulture incident came about sometime in August I think...
