Because isn't the author the Twilight author?

Also because it's targeted at pre-teens and teens, so there you go. They'll eat up anything that's made for them.

No wonder all the stay-at-home mommies of elem & middle school kids are posting about having tickets and camping out for tickets on FB. I thought it was yet another vampire movie.

WTF is it with middle-aged women pretending to be teenagers?

The actors in those movies are usually 25 pretending to be 17, and 25 is fair game for a 40 y/o cougar

I assumed it was for kids when my teenage daughters wanted to see it. I immediately had no interest in it whatsoever.

Its a pretty good movie, pretty sick watching a couple of kids hack each other up. The story is good, acting is good, action is good, visuals are good. The only down side is that you can tell that its a book adaptation, there are a few parts where you can tell that they are missing some details or background info. or you just can't read the charachters mind. They did do a decent job of showing the backstory without laying it all out, but you can tell that it alluded to more.

I'd definately rate it somewhere between see it in the movies and buy the DVD.

I've read the first book and my wife is on the second book now. We'll probably go see it next weekend. The friend that turned me on to the book saw it with his daughter and said it was about as good an adaptation as could be done but, he had some issues with the filming style. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

The two things that just didnt translate to film were Kats POV, it was made as a 3rd person film that centered around her so you saw some behind the scenes stuff too, and the real name for the hunger games, the utter desperation was never made nearly as apparent. In the book she was just about on the edge of starvation or dehydration, it was never a big plot point. Other than those two items, it was just about as close to the book as possible
