The actual Mike Hicks who is "on the list" is probably on there for writing a non-threatening letter to the editor of his local newspaper. That's how my dad got on it.

It was during the '04 elections. He basically said Kerry was unfit to be president. No threats, no "we need to fix him" or any other such language. But the "extra screening" started showing up shortly afterward, so it was either that or a speeding ticket he got in Dodson, LA for 5 over (but that's a whole other rant).

She has some good points, but let's get real here. I don't here anyone calling for the abolishment of cops, just because some of them suck. We obviously need some form of air security, just like we need law enforcement.

The best lock in the world won't deter a determined thief, but you still lock your bike/house/gym locker, right? Of course you do. To not do so, would be inviting trouble from the less skilled thieves of the world.

In my estimation, that's what TSA is. Are they very good at it? No, but the alternative is what? Bring your own gun and hope for the best? Fuck that. Half the people that own guns are complete morons, and I don't want to get shot by some idiot who thinks Shriners with Fez's on, all come from Morocco.

We need to fix the problems, not ignore the dangers. TSA needs better training and mandatory IQ tests.

Interesting concept, but it'll never happen. The feds will never stop claiming "ownership" of the airspace, just like they "own" the airwaves.

I'm not saying abolish air security. Just the TSA. Things were just as secure before when private contractors, etc., handled airport security. TSA has improved nothing, all it has done is given those same minimum-wage asstards a sense of authority that they don't rate. And they oblige by providing the appropriate abuses of that authority.
