But they are definitely sweet bikes, one of the instructors had a new one up at my last TD and he was wailing pretty good on that thing.

The smaller engine than the 1098 gives them really snappy handling, and it makes sense to me that it felt so stable to you. The R6 is a very twitchy bike if you aren't smooth with it, and you have to ride it balls out for it to feel good.

I talked to a Ducati dealer this spring about an 848. He said that for 95% of the population, the 848 was better than the 1098 because of the reduced weight and better handling. His reasoning was that most people won't really use the extra power of the 1098. I mostly agree with his reasoning.

It's only 11 pounds lighter than the 1098. I tweighs in at 369 pounds.

You have to ride one to understand, man. I love my R6 but the 848 just felt amazing. AMAZING!

Sad thing is I know 2 people with 1098's, both of them are 1098S's, too. One probably hasn't heard the term "track day" ever and the other one is too scared to wreck it on the track. Keeping the 1098, especially a fucking S model, and 848 away from the track is like not giving a baby its bottle.

Technically, you know 3 people with 1098's, and mine is well on her way to being track only. (It's going to put the S to shame! )
