Exactly. Until you have fool proof evidence (typically dna) there is always a chance that the person is innocent. No sense in killing an innocent guy and letting the real killer walk. Unfortunately there really is no way to prove that anyone is 100% guilty.

I think there should be a universal killing procedure for all living things. If livestock can be killed with a hammer or extension cord then so should killers, rapest and who ever touches my bike without permission.

An appeal, as in one, should be automatic and required in death penalty cases, but it shouldn't last 20-25 years.

And don't worry about the chance of killing someone innocent. None of us are and God has no problem sorting us out!
