Had 2 of them. 1st worked well but died after two years. 2nd one did a number on the wood trim on the baseboards of the cabinets and pissed me off. Sold it on ebay. Never again in the foreseeable future.

Our entire 1st level is wood except the bathroom and bedroom. We just vacuum once a week and every couple of weeks use the Bruce hardwood cleaner and a microfiber mop to clean them. We have two small dogs and a two year old. Works for us.

And here I always thought vacuuming was for carpets?

I use a broom/mop on hardwood/tile.

Brooming will stir up alot of dust and hair in the air and tends to make more of a mess sometimes. Vacuuming just sucks it all up. Much faster, too.

I have a scooba. But, I can't tell you how well it does because it didn't work on delivery. They are sending me a new one.

Telling?

For your sake, I hope not. It was very frustrating sending our back and forth time and time again.

I will say, they're nice to have when they work well. But 3-4 months of reliable use was enough to talk me out of the convenience.

I just have a central vac system - plug in a hose and vacuum or just sweep stuff into the "dustpan" in the island. I empty the canister in the basement every couple months.

If I ever build, our house is guaranteed to have one of those systems... too nice.

They are stupid cheap during a new build, too. My wife thought I was crazy for wanting it when we built our house last fall but she has thanked me ever since.

Our new house has one, but my wife still uses the old stand-alone. She said the heads for the whole house system are heavy and cumbersome, so I might have to invest in some lighter ones eventually (I've yet to look around for compatible alternatives).

I'd love to get her to use the whole house thing, it's just easier to clean up.
