I actually picked one of these up:

And used it for the first time yesterday at Barber. Off the bike it pokes you in the neck a little, but on the bike it was flawless. I never even knew it was there. I like this one because it's a little less money than Dianese and it doesn't have sleeves, so it's easier to get on and off. My suit has armor in the elbows and shoulders that I am happy with. Plus this has extra padding protecting your kidneys and collarbones, and the kidney/collar padding is gel-cell armor so it will actually do some good.

They also make a womans version with specially designed strap that prevents riding up.
They only make the women's version in full sleeves - with the mesh it's HORRIBLY uncomfortable on the arms, and the armor isn't removable so it gets in the way for the shoulder and elbows.

Bummer. I noticed the women's full sleeve one and figured they'd make a sleeveless version too.

Me too... Oh well. This one I can unzip the back protector and throw it in the wash

Cool! The back protector unzips from this one too, but I don't know if I can throw the rest of it in the wash. I'm pretty happy with it so far!

Does something like this look a little better? I've never heard of the brand, but it looks like its closer to what you are looking for.

Spidi has a new chect/back protector combo that looks pretty nice. I think it's the defender or something like that.
