I'm thinking 50% up front. I still have insurance on it and it would be one hell of a wreck to wipe out 50 %.

It might have been this forum but somebody had a silver motorcycle for sale and when the guy came for the test drive, he gave the keys to the mustang he came in " as collateral".

He was gong to test ride it in a parking lot. He borrowed the sellers leather jacket and helmet for the test.

He took off. The seller thought at least he could get something for the car. When the cops showed up, the car turned out to be stolen.

iirc, insurance did NOT reimburse him for the helmet or the jacket.

Hence the 50% CASH front. If it gets stolen-Insurance pays in full. The only thing that would kill the deal is a totaled bike.

I'll let him test ride if I know the guy or he has the full asking price. I don't have full coverage, so no rides.

That and I hate punks.

100% or no test ride. Why give a thief a half off discount?

I dont allow test rides unless the cash is there or it's someone I know well. Just not worth the risk and hard time.

The guy who bought my Zuk didn't ride it until the cash was in my hand...and then he rode it down the street so we could do the title work.

Well, bike is sold. We used the 50% up front for a test ride and that is what happened. I went with the buyer on my bike and everything worked out great. Easiest sale I've ever made.

Yeah like I'm gonna give 100% to someone who might split while I'm riding his stolen POS with bad bearings and head gasket.

i simply follow the lead of most dealers and don't allow test rides.
