They basically were trying to see if the old bikes could be modded to run with the new ones. I was off on the years, it was an 01 vs an 07 (im looking at the article now) and performance wise the 07 still beat up the 01. 9.7 @ 149 vs 10.1 @ 141. The modded r6s (aka 03 r6) was a tiny bit quicker than the stock 07 r6.

I really like the look of the R6s, but at the same time it pains me to buy this older model bike when I can buy one of the newer models at nearly the same price. There is a dealer near here that is advertising 08 CBRs for $7900. I know they're all nearly equal in performance (at least as far as an non MotoGP rider like me is concerned).... decisions, decisions. Thanks for the input guys.

Don't think of it as an "older" bike. Think of it as a bike that was so GOOD that when they had to redesign it, it was too good to just kick it out of the lineup, so they gave it a new name and kept it around. If it wasn't a solid bike, they wouldn't have done that.

overall I think they liked the 01 better as an all around bike, as for the GSX-R's anyway.

if my memory serves me correctly

The R6S is a solid fucking bike. The R6 is for more experienced riders that know how to ride high in the RPM because that's where it lives. The 600RR is a good choice, too.

Depends on your commute... slabbin' it probably wouldn't be bad, but it would suck for stop and go... at least, I'd imagine it would...

I'd rather do stop and go myself. You get to move around more.
