Didn't he have more of a side car to keep his wheelchair more than a trike. Side cars are something different altogether.

I fail to see how age would motivate someone to switch from 2 wheels to 3.

Disability, sure, but not age.

My guess is most 3-wheelers never rode a bike before.

Afraid if they fall over they may break a hip ?

Maybe they look at a trike sort of like a bike with training wheels.

My Dad's got a Goldwing Trike. Thing is as big as a car (it's the ONLY one of their vehicles that lives in the garage ). He rode regular bikes when he was younger, then got the Trike a couple years ago; he's got medical issues, which can leave him tired more than anything. But it's perfect for my parents; my Mom rides 2-up with him, and he goes on a lot of cross-state adventures with his friends.

He took me for a ride when I was out there in June, and it was actually a lot of fun. Not my cup of tea, but they love it.

And handling isn't SO much of an issue for them, since they're in West TX where the roads are straaaaaaaaight and flat.

And Trip, as for convertibles, they looked at a few a couple years back, but at 6'6", he looks OVER the windshield on most of them.

Two wheels or four, there is no other choice.

They about tipped over in a corner and went wide straight inbetween a truck pulling a boat (hit the tongue of the trailer area) and sliced them into pieces. It was a bloody gorey mess. Nasty shit.

Inverted trikes are pretty useless as well, they look cool but suck. I have ridden the spyder and that thing is terrible.

I still think they are useless and count as a car.

They make convertible luxury cars that allow for more room, he doesn't have to get a tiny sports car. Vettes can also fit a very large person rather easily.

Or the guy my first trip to Deal's Gap. In a wheelchair with a specially equipped chopper type trike with a platform for his wheelchair and a seat for his wife on back. Totally cool.

Age = less strength, arthritis from old age, bad knees, etc etc...I have an uncle who got super old and his legs lost alot of strength, he couldnt safely hold up a big gold wing so he triked it and didnt have to give up riding.

I cant believe you guys are dogging people for riding trikes. Regardless of their reasons (and most have a GOOD reason) at least they are RIDING.
