I can't wait to see it, but I am concerned it won't jive with the comic book version...I own Wolverine # 1, 2, 3, 4! Doubt they are worth money but they are cool!

The trailer seems about right. He was born in the what looked like the early-mid 1800s in the comics. Didn't have adamantium until the weapon-x program. Looks like it follows the time line pretty well.

DLIT, how was "The Day the Earth Stood Still"? I've been considering seeing it, but the 1950s version was a true classic; some say the first anti-nuke movie. The story line is apparently quite different from the original.

I wasn't aware of the 1950's version. I actually thought it was a decent movie.

It looks like they've used the Origin story from 2002 to explain Wolverine's beginnings. The trailer looks cool as hell, and as long as it doesn't suck the amounts of ass that X3 did, it'll work for me.

They're retreading everything these days. Ever heard any of the music from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"?

Have you seen Bruce Campbell's "Army of Darkness"? When he's about to pick up the book: "Klaatu barada nikto!"

Both refer to the original 1951 version of the movie. You could probably pick it up cheap at Best Buy, or another electronics store. That's where I got my copy for about $14.00. It's hokey, in that 1950s way, but it's also a pretty smart movie.

I can't get into the older movies and the way/style they were made. Not to say they aren't good, I just can't get through 'em. I'm kind of spoiled by the movies getting put out these days.

It's a different type of film being made now for a different audience. Most people seem to want the big blockbusters now, with lots of action and special effects. One thing that frequently gets lost is the story. Far too many films that I see now are essentially a set-up, followed by 1.5 hours of gunshots and stuff blowing up, then the death of the big badguy.

Every now and then I like to go back to the old stuff, to see how a story can be spun. Stuff like Citizen Cane, The Ten Commandments, Psycho and the other great Hitchcock films, and The Day the Earth Stood Still stand head and shoulders above the current stuff, in the art of storytelling. The old Bogart films are great stuff.

There are some exceptions though. GATTACA was a good story, but put most people to sleep. There's a movie that I only discovered recently though it was out quite a while back (2002); Equilibrium. It's a shoot-em-up that actually has a bit of a story hooking things together. Then there's the incredible stuff that Frank Miller is putting out; Sin City, 300, and the upcoming The Spirit. They've got both style AND substance.

He didn't. He got them as part of the "Weapon X" programme, along with the adamantium skeleton.
