The 'Stang is sitting. The car was fucking perfect. It only needed paint. I'm so bummed it got hit. It got T-boned on the driver's side A pillar. Took out the door, the fender, and the upper ball joint....so it doesn't roll. The smack was just hard enough topside to crack the windscreen, and the footwell is pushed in a bit.

Tell the truth, maybe a good pull on the bottom of the A-pillar on a frame table, a new fender, door, and ball joint, and that thing might actually be OK again.

Unfortunately, I'm no frame expert, so I'm holding onto it for now.

I know it's a real "girl's car" to many, but the MX-5 Miata can swallow the entire drivetrain of that 'Stang ( http://www.monstermiata.com ), and MX-5s in decent rebuildable shape are going for as little as $1500 around here...so I am eying that as an option (as well as a swap of all parts to another Fox body).

If you see a nice 'Velle for cheap, lemme know...but I don't know how I'd get it back to Jersey. I've been considering getting a tow dolly, or trailer...

Little car, big motor...best way to go fast. Just ask Carroll Shelby.

He did it with the Sunbeam Tiger AND the Cobra.

It's a thought. The kit is four grand, though...

I'll keep an eye out...the pick and pull here has a few fox body stangs...and we have at least 2 Mustang specialist recyclers near me.

wasnt it the ace before he renamed it? 4 grand is pretty painful considering you have to supply the car(s). i mean, if you were gonna dump that kind of cash might as well do a bit more and get a factory five cobra kit.

A Miata will also take an LS/T56 drivetrain from a Vette.When done right (suspension, brakes, diff, etc. upgraded to handle the power) and considering the work most $1,500 Miatas require I figure it will be somewhere north of $20k once it is all said and done though. I'd like to do one at some point but it isn't happening right now.

Since you already have the Mustang drivetrain it would be less but still probably in the $15k range.

That depends on what a person is going to do with the car. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Cobra replicas and if I ever had way, way more money than I needed I would have a Kirkham in my garage. For those that want A/C that works well, independent rear suspension that doesn't cost thousands extra, don't want all the attention that comes with a Cobra, and most importantly want a top that goes up quickly and actually works the Factory Five probably isn't the best choice though.
