I believe there should be a draft everytime to go into a major conflict. The burden should be shared across America, not just the poor. If the rich have to potentially risk putting their sons in harms way, I doubt the decision of going to war would be as easy.

Then we should get rid of peace time soldier status if we are going to require everyone to share the burden. Make you a basic federal employee with standard federal employee benefits when you aren't serving in a conflict.

Well if we did a mandatory service version like germany or south korean yes. I was referring to a wartime conscription version to help lower the burden on volunteer career soldiers. Either way works for me.
