That is because other than the NYT and the WSJ, nobody buys newspapers anymore. They would rather go online and watch some gee-whiz video. News sites aren't rewarded for investigative journalism anymore, they are rewarded by cool videos and blurbs about the latest celebrity scandal, which generate clicks. All because most Americans only care about instant gratification, as well as comparing themselves to others in terms of status and physical appearance.
