shops can be so fraudulent sometimes. I once brought my whole bike in for new tires, when i got it back they didnt even adjust the r-wheel straight and it was barely all hand tight.
now i just hand them the wheels to change the tires.

also, 7k on a liter bike isn;t horrible, on a alum sprocket. He also fails to mention that this chain had a few tight spots on it.
